God grant me the serenity

to accept the things I cannot change;

courage to change the things I can;

and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;

enjoying one moment at a time;

accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;

taking, as He did, this sinful world

as it is, not as I would have it;

trusting that He will make all things right

if I surrender to His Will;

that I may be reasonably happy in this life

and supremely happy with Him

forever in the next.

Amen.

Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971)

This prayer is very profound and one that I have struggled with over the years. Especially the first two lines. Sigh. My husband have this down pact, me not so much. 🤣. I am however learning and getting better. What about you? Have you been able to accept the things you can’t change in life or do you fight tooth and nail to have everything go the way you think it should? Sometimes we just have to accept that some things are out of our hands. Either it’s in the hands of God or other persons and there is nothing that you can do about it. It really doesn’t matter who you are or how much money you have. Some things are just out of your control.

The courage to change the things I can. Now that’s deep. It’s all about fear in my mind. Do I have the courage to make changes or am I fearful of the unknown and thus unwilling to make changes? Changes can make major impact on your life and that is the part that frighten many persons. Do you sit and stay in your comfort zone or jump and pray the net holds you? Well let me assume you jumping with a net there, if you are not, well that’s for another blog.

I know many persons that are fearful of change as it changes the structure and comfort that exist in their life. I was not like that but when I had children I realized that I started to hold back. I now know it was because I wanted to ensure that they were safe. But would I truly be giving them all of me and showing them the true me if I held back? Would fearing change really make them safe? Good question and I’m working on getting back to me and accepting change and making change in my life. It has made me stronger and more accepting.

It’s all about living in the now and knowing that this is the time. Do we grasp the moment with both hands or hold back in fear as it might be a problem and cause issues in your life?

Let me know what you think. Reach out via any medium. Are you afraid of change or do you take it as it comes?

See you next Wednesday at 8:00 pm.
