Chorus:
In Your hands, Lord we place today tomorrow
In Your hands, Lord we surrender all.
In Your hands I commit my joys, my sorrows;
In Your hands, Lord, I surrender all.

By Rev. Allan F. Kirton

The chorus is part of a hymn “In your hands”. I was singing in church on Sunday and I got goosebumps. It’s not as if I was hearing and singing the song for the first time. It was just surreal. It was as if I was hearing, I mean really hearing the words for the first time. I don’t know if you have ever had one of those moments. It’s as if what ever you are thinking about seem to amplify. I think it’s related to my recent focus of walking in faith. It’s the concept of handing over to God and surrendering all. It’s not the easiest thing to do especially when you have to be in charge. Letting go and letting God is not easy at all. You have to a lot of faith to ensure that it is possible. As we know faith can move mountains. Trust me it can I have many stories and I know persons that have stories that show how faith makes that difference. As someone told me last week after they read my blog. Faith creates confidence. I do believe she is right. Persons that have the faith seems to have that confidence which shows that as being able to take on the world. Faith seems to push you to believe you can do whatever you want to.

I Surrender All.

I learnt to let go and let God a couple years ago but sometimes you have to reiterate that knowledge. If not you slip back into thinking you are the one in charge. We have to understand that we are not in full control. That is a fact.

I remember getting upset recently and it dawned on me that I had no control over the situation and therefore there was nothing I could do. Which this in mind I had to step back and let go. I instantly printed a copy of the serenity pray and put it on the wall beside me. Every time I feel things moving away from me I look to my left and read. It makes such a difference. It’s a reminder that allows me to breath and take it easy. I feel lighter when I do that. It’s basically meditation during my day for short periods of time. It helps trust me.

Change

Letting go and letting God is what I have to do and knowing what I can and cannot control. When we look at what we can and cannot control we have to be realistic. What can we do or not do in different situations. Until we admit that we don’t always have that control because it’s not always feasible life will be difficult. Or maybe that’s just my way of thinking. What do you think?
