You have not because you ask not.
James 4:2
Is the statement above true? I don’t mean to the world but to you. I have heard this quote forever and just assumed everyone thought the way I was thinking. If you don’t ask you can’t get what you want, that’s what my mom would say all the time. I know for a fact she was right. If you didn’t ask for things from persons then how will they know what you want? I don’t know why people think others are clairvoyant. It’s a similar thing with the Almighty. If you don’t ask then how will you get what you want? I remember having a conversation where this question was asked and the reactions were different and interesting. One person said God is all knowing so it will be provided. Someone else said that was rubbish because you still have to ask for what you need. If you don’t articulate then how will the lord know. You have to put it out there so that both you and s/he knows what is wanted. Remember wants and needs are two different things. Your needs will be provided, your wants you have to ask for them to be provided.
Going back to the Bible verse is it as simple as asking and it will be given? I think so. As I wrote in a previous blog. You have to ask, believe and receive. Without this nothing comes to you.

I have so many stories about this way of thinking. I know so many persons that would insist that this is the way things happen. If we don’t believe this then what do you think happens to ensure you get what you want. Again as I said not what you need. Our needs are minimal but our wants can be as wide as you can imagine. It depends on you. Your imagination will determine how you think. Do you think small or large? Why would you think small? Is it because you are satisfied with what you have or is because you know no better and think that is all there is? Sometimes our world is so small we don’t know what is out there. When we look out there and see what others have and realize we can also have it that’s when we are willing to ask for more. It doesn’t mean you are greedy, it just means you can also have what is on offer. Why should you not live with the creature comforts of life? Who gets to determine when enough is enough? I think you do, no one else. No one can decide that you should live in a limited way because they don’t think you deserve what you ask for. It’s not up to them. Remember you control your own destiny. Ask for what you want and that’s the only way you will have.
