We can strive for perfection, but is perfection even feasible? I think about this often: how we look at the people who seem to have it all together and imagine that they started that way. The polished and successful business owner, the graceful and confident speaker, the disciplined and strong leader. But the truth is, most of us begin in small, uncertain steps. We stumble, we learn, and we grow, just like babies learning to walk. Just like them, we might fall and just like them, we still get up and walk anyway, never giving up.

There’s a certain beauty in the beginning stages, though we rarely see it when we’re in the middle of them. I guess because we are too close to the process. We want to be great right away, perfect even. But perfection is a moving target, an illusion that can make us feel like we’re never enough. That’s why imposter syndrome flairs its head so often. When we chase perfection too soon, we forget that progress itself is a kind of perfection, the kind that actually lasts.

Every skill, every success, every transformation, personal or professional, begins with a small step. The courage to start. The humility to keep going. The willingness to improve without the need to impress. It’s all about you and your growth. There is no need to try to impress others.

I’ve learned that it’s the steady climb that builds character, not the sudden leap. The quiet consistency that changes us, not the one-time burst of brilliance. You can perfect your craft, your approach, your discipline, but perfection as a state of being? I’m not sure it exists.

So, take the small steps. Allow the imperfect days. Trust the process that feels too slow. Each small step compounds into something remarkable, something authentically you.

Because in the end, it’s not perfection that shapes us. It’s the persistence to keep walking, one small step at a time.
