“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”

My mom and grandmas would say the quote above all the time. Do you agree with it? It would be use when something happened to you that could be considered harsh. If it didn’t kill you that means you would be stronger in the long run. Is this really true? Well, it could be if we learnt from those experiences. Maybe they should add to the saying that it only makes you stronger if you learn from the situation. I’m not sure if doing the same madness over and over again makes us stronger because we didn’t kill ourselves. Actually I would ask what is strength? Your idea of what is showing strength and mine might be very different.

There are things that I have experienced in my life the makes me think this quote is true.

My road to understanding

The problems might have felt overwhelming at the time but they didn’t break me and with that I ensure I learnt from them. Not learning and doing the same thing again is stupid. “One bitten, twice shy,” could be considered one of my mottos. Why would I allow myself to have the same situation hit me in the face more than once if I have any control over my life. I would look at what I wanted to do and go do it. Some might say that show strength, but is it really or is it just a will to control where I go and what I do? That’s one reason why I have my bucket list.

Bucket list

I should be the one to decide how my life unfolds. Why would I want to hand it over to any one else? Think about it, when someone else has control of your life you are very often backed into a corner. That’s a major reason why you decide that life is hard and the same things keep happening to you which seems so rough. That’s why you are thinking it makes you stronger but it might be like a sore that’s covered with scab which can be removed easily.
