“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.”

Marcus Aurelius

Someone sent me this quote recently and I thought it was perfect to do a blog. I have been reading the stoics for a while not as in-depth as many but …. I like their practicality. You can only change what you have control over. There is no other way to put it. It took me a while to figure it out. Stressing and worrying about things that you have no control makes no sense. You have to focus on you and what makes you tick and happy. Imagine worrying about all the things that happens around you. That’s a recipe for disaster in your life. Let go of the items outside your control and focus on things you can control.

Focus on the fact that you woke up this morning and as the quote says realize that it’s a privilege to open your eyes in the morning. Just be grateful. You are alive and we know that’s a blessing. I guess for some it’s just a routine, go to bed and wake up. That’s normal so what’s the big deal? It’s a major thing because you didn’t have to wake up as anything could have happened. Life is important and precious, we should know and understand that and accept it. That’s why I will always say life is for living. Living at your best makes you look around and see that there is so much more to life than work. There is family, friends, rest, sleep, hobbies, travel etc. when we focus on only one area it creates unbalance and almost certainly chaos.

When I wake up in the morning I show gratitude and send up praise and know it’s going to be a lovely day. We have to talk it into being. Never think less than that, we must always think positive. Positive thinking is the way to go. How you start the day is very often how it ends, so start positively. As the quote indicated accept and embrace the fact you are alive, you breath and love and think, thinking is so important to us all. We are thinking beings.

Note that the privilege mentioned here is not synonymous with entitlement. It’s showing that it didn’t have to happen and it gives you that feeling of gratitude and respectfulness. That higher being allowed you to open your eyes and now you say what will I do with this day that the lord has made. It now up to you to use this privileged moment to the best of you ability. What will you do going forward to ensure that each day is a blessing? What will you do to ensure it’s a blessing for others? Let go of the animosity and the stress. Let go and let God. Make use of what is on offer to you.

Let me know as I really want to know what you are thinking, and I know others do too. Try commenting 👍🏽, but if you are not comfortable, reach out to me via any medium. Your comments let me know how you feel and very often give me a total different perspective on the topic. 😉. And you can never tell your comment might help others.
