“We cannot hold a torch to light another’s path without brightening our own.”

Ben Sweetland

When I heard this quote I was thinking how true it was. When you reach out to help someone else you very often help yourself. Its in showing the other person kindness or as the quote say in holding a torch for them that you brighten you own path. Think about it, when you offer for example to teach others you also learn. Well that is how I think. It’s in the moments when you help another that you help yourself. I know for some that’s hard to understand especially when they think that “helping” is a waste of time. They do nothing without expecting something in return. Giving is one of the greatest things you can do, especially giving without thinking about “one hand washing the other.”

There is no way you can go through life feeling fulfilled without having given back. As I have said before it’s not about giving money but also about giving time and service. I am always willing to mentor because it is about helping. Mentoring is also about passing on your knowledge and experiences. As I have said before in another blog it’s not always necessary to learn everything on your own. It’s sometimes better to watch and learn from others. So what you can do is give of those experiences that you might have garnered over the years. That’s when you hold up that torch and light someone else path. It’s one of the best feelings ever.

Lighting someone’s way will also brighten your way. Everyone comes out winning. It’s a win, win all around. Let me know as I really want to know what you are thinking, and I know others do too. Try commenting 👍🏽, but if you are not comfortable, reach out to me via any medium. Your comments let me know how you feel and very often give me a total different perspective on the topic. 😉. And you can never tell your comment might help others.
