When the Black mamba died earlier this year I was really sad. I loved the way Kobe played and his discipline. However when the Black panther died that really hurt. Hurt bad. It was like a kick in the gut when I heard, I can’t explain the feeling. What made it even more awe inspiring was the fact that Chadwick Boseman battled cancer when he became the king. He did it with such grace and dignity. His work ethics was amazing. Cancer is not easy it takes everything from you and for him to fight this with such grace is remarkable. I have seen cancer up close and personal, it took both my parents. It was heart wrenching. When people rail against cancer I understand why.

I grew up reading black panther comics and comic strips. Yes I read everything. But I never thought I would ever see him on screen. Black superhero on screen? But one day we heard it would happen and then King T’challa was on screen. I never took my kids to see the movie the school took them. It was a field trip. I was glad they saw it as important. When I saw and spoke to the principal at the time he said, I wanted them to see a black superhero. One that looked like them. My kids loved the movie. The world loved the movie. What can I say he gave the world the black panther and a real life superhero that was black. He was a superhero in real life for me. It gave us a positive view of Africa and black people which was great.

When he disintegrated in Infinity wars, my son asked me sadly why did he have to die. He was excited when he was back in End Games and so was I. Now we realize that he is never coming back and it is so hurtful. This time the king is really dead, long live the king. RIP my king #Wakandaforever.
