And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” — 1 Corinthians 13:13 (KJV)

The Bible verse above is one that has always been in my life from the moment I can remember myself. It was always mentioned at church, and at school, it was always there. When we use charity here, it’s all about love, not just how we use charity in today’s language. It’s love in all its forms. There’s a quiet power in charity. In a world where many of us are always clamoring for recognition, charity asks for nothing but gives everything. It’s the quiet prayer answered through action, the unseen kindness that carries us through the storms of life. Storms that sometimes make us look like rag dolls when it blows in its fury and intensity.

Scripture gives us three pillars: faith, hope, and charity, and yet, it is charity that is called the greatest. Why? Because faith connects us to God, hope carries us through the waiting, but charity is love lived out loud. Charity is divine love in motion. Love that has no boundaries. Love that has no limitations. Love that never questions. Love is just there for all to see and accept.

We can have all the faith in the world, but if it never moves us to act, to lift someone else, to ease another’s burden, what good is it? We can hope endlessly, but hope alone doesn’t feed the hungry or comfort the grieving. It is charity, the act of love, that brings faith and hope to life. It is charity that makes us feel contented in this world of chaos.

In my own journey, I’ve come to see that true charity isn’t about grand gestures or public praise. We can give without the public accolades. It’s found in the everyday choices: in giving when no one sees, in listening when someone needs to be heard, in choosing kindness when it’s easier to walk away. It’s being there when it matters instead of living your life as if charity isn’t necessary. Charity, at the end of the day, makes us understand that we are all in this together.

Charity is the thread that weaves through our personal, professional, and spiritual lives. It shows up in how we lead, how we serve, and how we build community. And in a world so often divided, charity remains our clearest path back to each other.

So today, may we hold fast to our faith, remain rooted in hope, but above all, may we live lives marked by charity. Because the greatest of these is, and always will be, charity. It helps us to live our best life.
